This doll has been sold.

Wonderful, rare number 15 ½-inch antique German bisque child doll incised: C made in Germany 7 161, made by the J. D. Kestner doll factory., a seldom found mold. The bisque is perfect with no cracks, chips or repairs, just a tiny wig pull at one side seam. His expressive face features heavy multistroked eyerows, long pained upper and lower eyelashes, small brown almond-shaped eyes, open mouth with generous lips with shading strokes and 4 upper teeth, and a vintage bobbed human hair wig. Eyes have been reset stationary and are not on the rocker, but appear to be antique. Fully jointed composition body with original finish, but no Kestner Germany stamp, in very good condition, but wear at the knee joints and on legs. Though all of the parts are vintage and the proportion is correct and the fit is perfect, I have a feeling that the torso and arms are from a different body from the legs. Very nicely dressed in pink and white suit from vintage fabrics, white cotton underwear with feather stitching trim, antique pink openwork stockings and 1930s white leatherette shoes. Shirt has an 1 ½-inch tear at the side front, looks like it got caught in a stand. This is a rare Kestner # which would be $850, but since I am not positive about the body, I am offering him at a bargain price. Fabulous cabinet-size little boy all ready to display. Give your little girls some male company!
