Rare and wonderful 5-inch antique German all-bisque doll, incised:JIO©1920 41. This is a character doll by Jeanne Orsini. She has lost her chest label, but she was identified when I bought her as ViVi, but she could also be DiDi. I don’t have a set of photos of the Orsinis to compare her with. Whoever she is, she has a sweet smiling face, darling expression. Even her eyes smile. Her bisque is perfect with no cracks, chips or repairs, just a short 1/8-inch firing line at her back shoulder and one on her thumb. Her parts are original. Her eyes have been reset stationary, rocker is missing. The little white on the side of her eye cut is simply plaster from her eye setting. She has a vintage blonde mohair wig. She wears a sweet vintage cotton dress and half slip. At one time someone taped her legs to her torso, so there is some tape residue still there, which you can see in the photo. It will come off, but it takes a little patience. Certainly, a rare and wonderful doll!
