13 ½-inch Beautiful 13 ½-inch antique German bisque child doll incised: SH 1079 – 4 Germany with red Wimpern stamp. She was made in the Simon & Halbig porcelain factory. Wimpern means eyelashes, and this stamp was used on the very first S & H heads to have real upper eyelashes. This is an early head with very high forehead, dark multistroked eyebrows, extra large dark brown eyes (original, but broken from rocker) with replaced black silk upper eyelashes and painted lower eyelashes, pierced ears with earrings, open mouth with 4 upper teeth and chin dimple. Her bisque is perfect with no cracks, chips or repairs. She has a lovely honey blonde French human hair wig with long curls. Her early composition and wood jointed body has original finish but some repairs and wear particularly at the knee and neck joints; also some paint loss on the upper legs, as is common with the wood parts. She wears a lovely antique dress with blue satin ribbon trim and lace bodice, white cotton full slip and pantaloons with lace trim, lace stockings and black antique shoes with toe buckles and heels. She also wears a 1930s straw hat. An especially beautiful Simon & Halbig child with lots of personality!
