All original folk-costumed 8 ˝-inch German bisque child incised: Made in Germany [horseshoe] 1900 11 ˝ /o. Her head was made in the porcelain factory of Ernst Heubach, Koppelsdorf, and her undies are stamped Bébé Frandeis, Prague. Her bisque head is perfect with no cracks, chips or repairs. She has thick tapered eyebrows and lots of painted upper and lower eyelashes to emphasize her brown almond-shaped sleeping eyes. Her open mouth has four upper teeth. She has her original brown mohair wig with center part and two long braids all the way down to her knees. Her original 5-piece composition body is excellent quality and condition, and has molded cream stockings with green garters and two strap boots. I assume she was a souvenir from Prague and that her original costume represents some area in Czechoslovakia. It is lovely with a white blouse with lace collar ribbons at the cuffs, print skirt with green ribbon trim, matching apron and maroon wool vest, complete underclothes and headdress. There is some age soil on the headdress, otherwise, everything is in excellent, unplayed with condition. As these regional costumes are disappearing from use, these Souvenir dolls are becoming historically more important as a record of what was worn in various areas. What a lovely example of a European child!
