Wonderful and early 5 ½-inch pair of antique German dolls. These charming dolls have wax heads with painted blue eyes and blonde mohair wigs. The girl’s wig has a center part and back braids. The boy’s hair is short and curly with a little loss over one ear and in the back. There is some glue residue from the wig, which might scrape off, but I’m not taking the chance! Both have 1-stroke eyebrows and painted closed mouths, some minimal wear on both. The wax heads are on composition bodies with jointed shoulders and hips. Footwear consists of painted white stockings and orange boots with white painted buttons. Both are nicely dressed and all original in Regional costumes. The clothes are in very good condition. This is a darling pair of dolls wonderfully preserved in an old sewing basket. Ca. 1870s, maybe earlier. What charmers they are!
