This vintage darling 6 1/2 inch Door of Hope Mission Chinese doll dating from the first quarter of the 1900s was marketed as Small Girl in Silk. She is all original in silk tunic, pants and shoes, but her tunic and pants have faded. There is a little fraying on the front of the tunic. She has painted black hair with a carved braid on each side and a carved red hair ornament. The white lines on her painted hair represent parts, a center one and one for each braid. There is a hole in the back for inserting a real hair braid, which is missing. The carving of her ears is especially detailed. The lines on her head in the close-up photo are simply grain lines in the wood. I have seen photos of this model with a little hat, but hers is missing. She has very desirable dainty carved wood hands. The Door of Hope Chinese children are the favorites of collectors, and this one is a fairly hard-to-find model. I have several articles on these dolls from various doll magazines that I would be glad to copy for the buyer, if so desired. A wonderful addition to your Door of Hope Collection!
